I bought 3 cabins (UVA, TL/01 - narrowband, and combi UVA+TL/01) in 2004.

Note to UK readers, Cosmedico's Loughborough office is now closed - Dieter has retired, Cosmedico have new service support through Scott Medical in Co. Antrim, N. Ireland, together with a point of contact (sales/service) in Derbyshire.
In europe, there are 2 manufacturers to consider - Cosmedico Medizintechnik and Waldmann.
Waldmann have been around for donkeys years, they produce tried and tested kit but it is a little on the pricey side. They are quite expensive for lamps, so I source my UVA and TL/01 replacements from other suppliers.
Waldmann can be found at "
Waldmann web page in English "
Cosmedico are a relatively new set up and have purchased the Dr Honle range of equipment to complement their range of cabins. Cosmedico can be found at "
Cosmedico ". Note the site is in German.
**hearsay alert**
I am led to believe that Cosmedico were formed when Waldmann decided not to pursue the manufacture of a new cabin that had been designed, so those responsible for the design left Waldmann and set up Cosmedico - a few hundred yards down the street!! The GP-xx range of cabins are the result.
**hearsay off**
From a technical standpoint, both units are well constructed, however we have had a lot of electrical interference? causing the GP-42 and GP-36 units to fail to start. Cosmedico have sent a factory engineer on 2 occasions to install filters and improve grounding, and things have improved.
Cooling fans on the Waldmann units are dead easy to get at/replace but are pricey - be sure you are sitting down when you ask for a price - and there are 7 of them on a 7001 whole body cabin. Having said that, there are 12 on a Cosmedico cabin but they are a complete b*tch to get - at albeit at a fraction of the price of a Waldmann fan.
The Waldmann units need more space round the sides and back for access to the fans for cleaning/replacement - about 50cm would be a reasonable minimum, the Cosmedico fans can be replaced from inside the unit so less space around the units is required.
Neither manufacturer allows you to change calibration factors, and no matter how hard you plead, it's like talking to a brick wall.
Both manufacturers supply equipment as either single or three phase, but should be specified at time of purchase, as a rewire would be complex and expensive.
I strongly recommend you specify ALL starters to be "electronic starters" eg OKO6 rather than "glow starters" eg S12. They cost about £5GBP more each, but in 2 years, I have not had a tube fail - I hold the starter as responsible.
I would be interested in hearing from any other persons who work on Cosmedico cabins with a view to letting me pick your brains at a later date should I have any problems.
