Does anybody know of any UK suppliers of patient cooling units for theatre use?
There seems to be a few patient warming units around, but I can't think of any current cooling units off the top of my head. We had some many years ago that involved the use of refrigeration units - but these were troublesome - nobody used the right water!
We use a Blanketrol from 'Cincinnati sub-zero' (love that name!). Datex-Ohmeda are UK agents. It works on ordinary water, but you'd need to check theatre suitability.
Gaymar, Jostra (tap water) and Stoeckert are other suppliers of fluid circulation devices. The new product from Actamed is believed to be the only cooling unit not using fluid - uses Peltier elements for cooling the air.
