Hello Munir smile

There are a number of small companies in the UK (and elsewhere) that specialise in that sort of thing. Most do quality work, but all don't come cheap (and certainly don't provide such services for free).

However, as someone with varied experience of the implementation of New Hospital Projects (especially in the Middle East), I may be prepared to help you. How would you propose to pay for all the many hours of work that that would entail? think

But first, here are a few questions:-

1) Government hospital?
2) Private hospital?
3) Existing building (conversion)?
4) New building (designed yet)?
5) What stage is the Project currently at?

Geoff, one last fling in the Middle East, dust your passport down.

As we know, Neil, there are plenty of Consulting Engineers and Architects in both Riyadh and Amman. Most of them would be happy to provide the services that Munir has mentioned.

But I suspect that what Munir is looking for is, shall we say, remote assistance (that is, of the kind so often available on this forum).

But yes, a decent project to keep me going for a few years would be most welcome as far as I'm concerned. Can't see that happening now though, unfortunately. And anyway, I've binned my passport. frown

If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

Munir

This is not a trivial task & requires exquisite planning with inputs from a multi-disciplinary team. I assume there is a budget for the project with a healthcare service need to be fulfilled. The services to be provided have to be detailed & translated into a brief for specialist architects to draw up plans. All the spaces in the facility have to be designated & their services required specified. All of these activities require continuous interaction between the planning team until a final room listing is produced & from there each space is populated with its fixed services (part of the building), its fixed & its moveable equipment. All of these activities can be computerised & there is specialist software to automate & collate layouts & equipment lists & it is required to avoid costly mistakes. Being a vetern of Middle Eastern new healthcare projects myself I have come across companies in Jordan who can do this work. Good luck.

With respect to gas outlets/piping you might find copies of HTM 02-01 Part A and Part B useful.

@Paul. Yes. smile

However, there used to be (and no doubt remains) an "alternative healthcare market" in the Middle East (and indeed, many other parts of the world).

Myself and a few of my (then) colleagues found a ready market for Engineering Design (and On-Site Supervision) Services amongst, shall we say, the smaller segments of private healthcare.

As you will no doubt recall, almost every village, and certainly every desert town (not to mention cities) had a private clinic, or small private hospital.

The old Sheikhs (usually) who owned those places were not too keen on spending Big Bucks (riyals) on fancy "professionals" (Consulting Engineers and Architects) but were generally happy with the work we did for them.

As with the tech support of equipment in some parts of the world, there is sometimes a need for a "charitable"* approach, as it is often the case that only government funded hospitals (etc.) can afford "professional" (read as:- expensive) assistance.

I believe that there may be a way forward these days by providing cost-effective engineering design services over the internet. In fact (and as Spicer has just indicated), as long as clients have internet access, there is a great deal they can do for themselves!

Before I left Riyadh in 2004 (and having donated all my New Hospital Projects library to my mates at the office) I broached the subject of continuing my involvement from elsewhere. That this, remotely, in the UK (or Cyprus ... wherever). Although the internet was "new" to the Kingdom at the time, once I had had a go (at the first - and at that time only - internet café in Al-Hasa) I realised the possibility of reviewing documents, listings, drawings and all the rest, remotely from anywhere with internet access. Unfortunately, my ideas were a bit too "advanced" for my bosses at that time ... but there you go.

Anyway, let's hear from Munir. smile

* Or shall we say "down-market"? But I prefer the words "innovative" and "imaginative"!

Check 'CBAHI' on the internet and you will get all the specifications required to build a hospital.

Yes Neil, thanks to the internet, information abounds ... but (as we both know) you still need someone with mukh to do the actual work (engineering), rather than just talking about it! whistle
