Thanks again Geoff, I can't really afford the luxury of doing what I would really like to do at the moment (which is either start a revolution or study theology, or maybe both!), but I take your point. I am already repairing PCs and laptops but it's not really a living.

Regards,

Ah! A living ... well, that's a different question entirely.

I thought we were talking about fixing kit for the joy of it!

To be honest, I doubt that there's a fortune to be made in fixing kit in the UK these days. If it's money you're after, you need to do something else as well. frown

For what it's worth (if only for encouragement, I hope), my own income income goals have always been "just enough to carry on". As I have already hinted at, it's all just a question of doing what you actually want to do.

Meanwhile, "rebellion" might be a better thought. think

Problem is we don't have enough to carry on, we have always struggled as we made the decision that one of us would be at home to look after the children, both of whom chose to be home-educated at various stages. We also moved around a lot both in the UK and in Ireland.

Anyway, repentance (in it's truest sense) might be the best thought,i.e. turn away from greed and materialism and towards compassion and fairness? I have a dream!

There is an Arabic saying that translates to something like:-

"We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails". smile

Hi
If it’s a little cash and keeping your hand in without the full on business approach.
Have you tried vet equipment or a little more ambitious dental surgeries. Although dental surgeries do have more in the way of restrictions, autoclaves and compressors as well as dental chairs always seam to have little faults from my experience and full on companies charge a lot for small repairs some dentists have never heard of DAVS or what a HTM is, and let the small things build up till the suffer complete collapse. A simple filter change or door seal can make you look like a saint.
Getting tech literature can be difficult but the tooling tends to be simple and standard stuff also vet equipment is usually just old medical. From back in the days when repairs were carried out with a soldering iron.

In my experience the problem working for Vets and Dentists is that they don't like to pay for any work they have done.

Thanks for the suggestion Leonius, appreciate your reply. My experience is mainly in ventilation, anaesthetics, lasers, neonatal, plus all the usual defibs, infusion et al. I was hoping for something involving these (I want it all!)as I'm hopeful that in a couple of years I may be able to return full-time employment and recent experience would be helpful with this. Noticed two jobs in North Tyneside in jobs section - just need to move up there and sell the children.....
