Well you've got two choices there, by the sound of it, Tony (my Old Mate):-

1) Join TBS
2) Retire!

Depends whether you need to keep earning regular money, I guess.

There is always a third option, of course:- put some money into the pot and join (set up) the B-Team. Together, we can conquer the world (if we feel like it). whistle

A bloke like you shouldn't drown, Mate. Seize it as an opportunity to sail on to new, uncharted waters.

BTW ... I'm wondering if the (Famous?) Five put together their own Proposal. And if not, why not? think

Welcome on board, Matey ... and bring your messmates with you if they fancy a run ashore ... on the Dark Side of the island. Who knows, we may even come across hidden treasure!

I have just heard the sad news about the demise of Brendan Cairney. Brendan passed away about eighteen months ago, apparently, and I'm wondering how we didn't get to hear about this before.

So ... another one bites the dust. frown

Now that the last remaining analogue TV signal has been switched off in the UK, it's time to say farewell to Ceefax. 38 years of news stories in four paragraphs!

Hopefully, this one will carry on (if only to show younger folk what it was all about).

Meanwhile, does anyone know if the Ceefax idea was taken up in other countries?

For completeness, I had better also mention Prestel ... and IBA's competitor, Oracle. smile

Yeah. Nice one. smile

I believe that Channel 4's Teletext service ended in December 2009. It was a spin-off from Oracle, and was known earlier as 4-Tel and then FourText (and finally, rather unimaginatively, Teletext)!

But no doubt Bamboozle will be available somewhere on-line. I'll leave it to you to dig it out! smile

Here's another nice link! smile

And, lastly, here's something about the spec ... or, if you like, the technical background.

Ref posting 06/01/12 and 07/01/12,
Evening Geoff/Tony Dowman,
Having researched the good ship "TBSLand" the Grimm Reaper ala Tony G decided to early retire, after 36 years of EBMEing, 4 days before the TUPE date from [ mainly ] Bournemouth Nuffield Hospital To TBS.
Have spent a year of "when the sun shines, and its warm" venture into the real world, and when it`s cold and damp, decorating and servicing the other womman in my life, the 1949 Landrover. I miss the banter of being in charge of all of the medical equipment at Bournemouth, especially the Theatre staff,
Tis rumoured that the good ship "TBSLand" have has 3 captains at Bournemouth Nuffield to replace me, in the 13 months since I jumped ship [the last one expiring after 5 days ].
Yes I have been asked to return by the Bournemouth Nuffield Admiral, but having worked in Nigeria,Saudi and Kenya and UK, I thought of VSOing, or EBMEing etc in Uganda or Ethiopia but VSO/ODA/ others wants a BSC instead of HNC, and IPEM or VRCT membership instead of 36 years experience..so that`s it then..Always on Holiday.
Halas.
