Why? ... to prevent (or, at least, "discourage") users "fiddling about" with the regulator (pressure) I should imagine. whistle

Also, the requirement for a "special" hose assembly (and hence the original question at the top of this thread) reinforces the idea of not just bunging on "any old gas supply"! smile

Just dug a little deeper and found a very similar job done for us in 2011. Cost £600 in parts so your 500 Euro may not be that far out as it seems.
We wouldnt have paid for the parts unless we had to so guess we couldnt find an alternative in UK.
The medical device issues here would have stopped us using a supplier who couldnt vouch for the parts medical suitability.

The insufflator internal regulator should be set to 5 bar, the reason why there is not an external regulator as the insufflator is designed to be connected either to bottled gas or to "house gas" aka wall outlet.

I do remember reading once oxygen was once connected to an insufflator which resulted in a patient death due to an explosion..

Also try contacting your local Stryker distributor as these hoses from memory are not to expensive.
