Hi All

Have any of you started asking manufacturers for the revised PPQ documnetation?

It can be found on the following link (dated 19th March 2013):

Institute of Decontamination Sciences

Part 1 - Decontamination has changed but Part 2 - Medical Devices appears to be un-changed.

If you are using the new document, how have the manufacturers reacted to it?

Regards

Not using it yet, but I find it not amusing that there is a typo on item 11.

PPQ ... or CYA? whistle

Is this document aimed only at stuff that ends up in the CSSD?

And just who is the Institute of Decontamination Sciences, and what authority have they as yet another organisation issuing guidelines (aka telling folk what to do)? think

What we need is just the one "chain of command". In my opinion, within the government healthcare system that should be the Department of Health.

If you don't inspect ... don't expect.

This actually fits in nicely with another recent topic of how to disinfect a ventilator. It is something than needs to be considered with all medical equipment - how does it get cleaned?

My spelling is not bad. I am typing this on a Medigenic keyboard and I blame that for all my typos.

Hasn't it always been considered during the purchasing process, then? think

And then again during (proper) acceptance and commissioning?

And then again (again) during (proper) preventive maintenance? whistle

And (of course):- cleaned, disinfected, sterilized ... three different things (albeit often banded about by some folk - who should know better - as if they are three in the same). frown

Depends how much the technical people are allowed to get involved, often it is a case of look what we just bought, then we say have you considered/planned for........ this list of problems. shrug

I'm surprised that the SSBG have put their name to this form. In addition to the typo previously mentioned, part 2 is simply cut and pasted from the original PPQ and consequently the numbering of part 2 begins at question 5, whereas part 1 ends at question 64!

The declaration appears at the end of part 1, so does it not relate to part 2?

Also, the suppliers reference which was at the top of the page on the original PPQ now appears randomly half way down the page (between question 6b and 6c).

Not to mention that parts 1 and 2 have very different formats... hardly a professional looking document and not one that I would take seriously if I were a manufacturer or supplier.
