I have a fair number of Plum A pumps in my trust and we were about to purchase another batch then the hammer fell saying Hospira have lost the CE mark for the pumps. I now understand there will be no more Plum A pumps as we know them manufactured. So the question is do we stick with them till the new "Plum 360" pump is delivered to the market or dump them and move totally to another manufacturer now? We have not had the Plum's for long. What is the feeling round the country.

Are the new Plums going to be any better than the current ones. We had quite a few in my previous Trust with about 50% available for use at any one time.

We have 80 in in our oncology day unit for the last year with no real problems at all. As far as it goes so far so good!!
My gut though is telling me to jump ship and go to another manufacturer. If I do the question then is who?

FDA approval was also removed, too many faults in a short period of time. Battery problems, alarms not functioning. Go to the FDA webpage and all will be revealed.

If you thought the Baxter colleague had a long list of faults, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Don't think there is any great secret Geoff. There are still eight outstanding field safety notices on the Plum pumps as detailed here Hospira FSN's and because they have no CE marking they are fairly restricted in the way of what they can sell you as spares. Now it looks like they are going to make the problem go away by bringing out a new pump. Wonder what will happen to all the old ones?

I've never had a close look at one of these pumps myself, but seem to recall that they have an interesting cassette design. Were there any problems with that, I wonder?

Anyway, having just done a bit of on-line research ... I had best just say "no comment" (else I've have another post deleted).

Where will they end up? Flooding the veterinary market, I should imagine.

Geoff, when you say flooding the market are you talking in a literal sense?
