Can anyone recommend good basic electronic courses that can be done online or basic medical device technology.

The short answer to your question is, no. However I'm confident that many will be able to advise you in a positive way since the study of the theory of electronic engineering (as with all other forms of engineering) lends itself to online teaching methods.

I think that you get information of online courses available but I do wish to emphasize the importance of the practical nature of all engineering and I hope that magazines such as Everyday Electronics, Practical Electronics and Hobby Electronics etc. are still available. It is by building (and inevitable fault finding) simple projects that an understanding of basic electronics can be mastered. It is all well and good quoting the "h" parameters of transistors but equally important (some would, with good reason, argue more important) is that you can identify their legs and use a soldering iron and meter.

Best wishes

ps

I seem to remember a site called Frank's Medical or something like that which had information that you will find helpful.

I've just found it:

http://www.frankshospitalworkshop.com/

Please don't forget the practical nature of electronics as explained above.

All the best

You could take a look at my web site, which contains some information that may be of interest. I also have a number of PowerPoint presentations that cover a lot of the basics. I would be happy to email them to you if you contact me direct. My web address is www.xrayengineering.co.uk

Hi Chimps,

I see your post is over a year old, but if you are looking for any medical device training, Avensys UK Ltd offer level 3 to a level 5 Diploma in Medical Equipment Technologies.

The level 3 courses range from Cardiovascular equipment; patient monitors, defibs etc. Surgical equipment; diathermy and endoscopy stack systems, to more specialist courses such as Anaesthetics and Ventilation, and Medical Imaging.

The Diploma is well suited to at work NHS Engineers as it is on line with a weekend at our training academy for each module.

You can find all the details at www.avensysmedical.co.uk or you can email info@avensysmedical.co.uk for details.

Kind Regards

Nigel

I always used to find this a fascinating site for circuit simulation.
