Has anyone had issues with cracks forming in the main casing of the Prismaflex Hemofilter machine -- esp the rear casing? We've recently discovered this issue in some of our units and are trying to establish if it's a freak local problem or a wider spread issue with possible design fault or weakness implications.
If your hospital / department has come across this or if you could check your units (if you have them)and discover this issue we're keen to hear your feedback.

We have 7 of these units and not had any cracking issues. Replacing the case would be an absolute pain!

You're not joking Biff, the makers give a 2 day estimate for their trained techs to strip out the guts & replace case! (not cheap either!!) We just find it too much coincidence to have same cracking on so many units, the users are not 'That' careless, hence the search to see if problem is wider spread.
Note: cracks are specifically at top of rear case near fan recess, I tried uploading piccies but failed miserably.

I have canvassed opinion on the Association of Renal Technologists forum and comment received so far reads:

'We have 13 Prismaflexes coming up for 9 years old. Never noted any cracking of casings here.'

We did have these beasts a while ago there was a bit of a problem especially around curved corners in the plastic moulding. We traced it to use of incorrect cleaning agents causing the plastic to breakdown.
We filled the cracks with plastic filler and rubbed the finish down so you couldnt see it and changed the cleaning regime to a recommended one.
Some of the agents especially those containing alcohol of bleach can be to strong for the plastic bases used on. Or applied to vigerously.
