Dear all,
for pharmacological experiments in we established complete monitoring of PAP, MAP, CVP, ECG, SpO2 as well as continuous heart time volume in a rat with a Siemens SC9000. Actually I am writing down all measured variables every 5 minutes, get them into excel and try to make some graphs, which is neither accurate nor comfortable. Therefore I would like to ask whether someone of you has any experience with any interface to read out the measured variables as accurately as possible.
Thanks in advance,
cheers, daniel

Welcome to the forum, Daniel. smile

Those Siemens Infinity series monitors may have the Medical Information Bus built-in (as do most Siemens equipment of that era) - as well as a good selection of other output connectors (see Appendix B of the manual).

As you may be aware, various methods of capturing data may be (are) available. But the extent to which any data capture efforts are likely to succeed really depends upon what equipment you have available, and, of course, what outputs are actually available at the monitor.

Meanwhile, Best Regards to the rat (let's hope the guy pulls through).

any suggestion?
PS: the rat unfortunately died....

With all those connections on the SC-9000, there must be any number of possible solutions.

For example, the MDS interface box has two USB connectors on the back (however, that same .pdf mentions that the Infinity Explorer software does not support USB)!

Also (off the top of my head), how about using a suitable Central Station ... or even a Cerner (or similar) "solution"?

If you plan to make a lot of use of your monitor rig, I can only suggest that you speak with the manufacturer's technical support people in an effort to obtain the most promising (efficient, cost effective, robust etc.) solution to what it is you're trying to do.

Pity about the rat ... but no doubt a few others are standing by ready to volunteer. smile

Here are another couple of interesting possibilities that Google (our Old Friend) has kicked up:-

1) MPR-1/MPR-2
2) Cable

Why not try Raumedic ... perhaps they're already working on the MPR-3! smile

OK ... that's me back to work now.

It would be an interesting project to develop a universal interface box for collecting monitor output signals.

As previously mentioned, there are a fair number of "food for thought" documents on line. For example:-

1) Khan
2) Akingbade et al

Meanwhile, have you seen LabView? smile

Hello danielsd,
We used to have Siemens SC7000 but now replaced with Drager Infinity Delta XL.
I think what you need/described is the "trend". I am am not very sure about the Siemens but for the Drager model both graphical and numerical/tabulated trend is available until the "patient" is discharged storing up to 50 events on FIFO basis.
