I am trying to find out if there are any hospitals out there who have removed the bed rails off their beds in Maternity Units to prevent entrapment of babies either in the bed rail or between the mattress and the bed rail. I am being asked to remove the bed rails on some newly purchased beds that have bed rails on them.

If you do remove the rails, I hope that you have the request in writing

We have done this and this has been ongoing for the last 10 years due to ease of access and further entrapment issues.
