Welcome to the forum, Keith.

Unfortunately, this sounds like one of the "usual suspect" with ultrasound units ... namely, a "corrupt hard drive"* (the other one being "missing power supplies").
The remedy employed by the
experts often seems to be a (more or less complete) software re-install.**
So; two questions for you:-
1) At what stage does the error get thrown up? During boot-up?
2) Do you have the software?
As you may already be aware, there is usually a "secret" key-press (or key-press combination) that allows you to progress to a diagnostics screen or menu during boot-up.
Other than that ... what have you tried so far? If you're lucky, you can sometimes get away with re-seating board and connectors - or even blasting out (what can often be) many years' worth of "fluff"!
In passing, I could mention that there used to be a couple of useful ultrasound tech forums ... but sadly they seem to have become
defunct now. I suspect they were closed down for giving away too many of the manufacturers' "secrets"!

Good Luck!

Generally due to the unit not having been closed down properly previously, for whatever reason.**
I must admit that I always looked upon this as a bit of a "sledge-hammer" approach, myself (or at least, one of last resort). But I guess those guys were always a) In a bit of a hurry, and/or b) Under a lot of pressure from the user/customer to get the thing up and running ASAP.
