Has anybody experienced any problems with the BS probe end of the OEM V60 gas hoses becoming damaged and not fitting into wall plates, or fitting into the wall plate but not fitting into an O2 splitter?

I appreciate this is probably down to the hose being dropped / accidental damage but we are seeing quite a few faulty hoses only on this product and can only be either the outer collar is getting bent out of shape or the centre probe is being pushed off centre WRT the outer collar.

Just curious if anyone else had similar issues? - the MEC hoses that we replace them with don't seem to suffer this problem at all

Sounds like a case of poor manufacturing and (or) sub-standard materials ("soft" metal) being used.

We haven’t got this unit but I have seen damaged outer collars (even on stainless steel Schrader probes) after they have been dropped a few times.

Are these fittings stainless or chrome plated brass? (Scratch the surface with a hard point; is the bottom of the scratch a different colour).

Yes, I think you hit the nail on the head with that one - took a file to one of the duff ones today and just as you said, it's plated brass - the cheapskates!!
No wonder they get damaged easily - all our replacement MEC supplied ones have stainless fittings, so thats why we don't see an issue with them...

Doesn't BS 5682 specify the metal to be used?

BS 5682:2015 indicates the following:

"5.7 The material used for probes shall have a minimum hardness of 120 HBW 2.5/62.5 when tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 6506-1."

"Note 3 Stainless steels and nickel or chromium plated brasses are considered suitable hardwearing materials for probes."
