Morning all.

To be honest, I've not seen too many films (aka "movies") ... but I think I'll stick with "Tunes of Glory" (1960).

Never seen it geoff.. Looks like a good bit of Sunday viewing ( Just had a read of the synopsis ). I will give it a watch this weekend!

Anything with Alec Guiness in it is always worth a go.

Maybe we need to expand this out to include plays (playwrights, screenwriters) and other great works of literature; then I could mention "The Caretaker" (Harold Pinter - 1960) and "The Browning Version" (Terence Rattigan - 1948). But, there again (and going back a little further), perhaps Niccolò Machiavelli would also deserve an honourable mention!

My dad's favourites and now mine are the classics Zulu and The Man Who Would be King; don't tell me about the historical inaccuracies Geoff, I don’t care, they are both “ripping yarns”.

Mind you i watched Train your Dragon and the Kung Fu Panda recently and enjoyed them as well. (There seems to be a lot of violence in my choices).

Well, "Zulu" is based on actual events (and I know a couple of blokes who have since visited Rorke's Drift).

No problem with anything by the great Rudyard, either.

Not so sure about your other selections, though. Although I do remember enjoying "The Karate Kid" (1984)!*

Either that, or things haven't really changed that much since the 16th century.

By the way, Buddha was pretty good with the old Words of Wisdom, too.

My favourite quote is normally atributed as a Chinese (although this is disputed) curse and goes "My you live in Interesting Times".

It was also a favourite of the late Terry Prattchett.
