If the individual was working for the 3rd party company, why was he attending for a job interview with the NHS? If he had already left the company, why did the interviewer feel the need to send the photo(s)? Did the 3rd party company really have a CEO and a Quality Manager? Has the Quality Manager been sacked yet? Or was it him who was being interviewed? I smell a rat! Maybe I've been reading too many Maigret novels.

OK, here's another scenario: this was the tech the well known 3rd party company said they could provide for a month. The tech arrives, and your mate sets him a practical test. He fails to impress, etc., etc.But ... was the tech a regular employee of the company; was he miffed about the month ahead, and so deliberately made a mess of the wiring as a means of escape? Or was he simply someone the company had brought in (in effect a 4th party)? Someone, perhaps, with a brilliant CV yet untested practical skills? In other words, the 3rd party service provider was simply acting as an Agent. Was your mate having second thoughts about forking out £10k plus expenses, and therefore looking for a way out? Can we be sure someone didn't tamper with the plug before taking the photo(s)? Was a replacement tech sent along? Did he pass the test? What would Poirot have made of it all?

Forgive my ignorance, but I was under the impression that we no longer change plugs, but rather change the cable with a moulded plug!!

Aha! The plot thickens! Maybe it was a trick to catch the candidate out! But you're assuming it was a mains plug, Neil. Nero Wolfe never assumes. He deals only in facts. He also drinks a lot of beer.

Thanks for that ... although I saw nothing there that could not have been posted in open forum. Unlike my reply, that is. Otherwise, I can only refer you (and others) back to posts at the beginning of this thread. Case closed.PS: it wasn't Frank, was it? Aut inveniam viam aut faciam.

In order to avoid any confusion, perhaps I should point out that the plug shown on Frank's webpage is now shown correctly wired. Although I prefer to use a wire-stripper myself; and would not tin the wires either.

Don't know that much equipment that requires a 13 amp fuse, in my opinion any equipment that requires a 13 amp fuse should be 'Hard Wired'

Solder is soft, so even when you tighten the screw after a period of time the soft solder will migrate and the screw will become loose. For medical equipment only the use of a ferrule is acceptable! In fact, you will find no product fitted with a rewireable 13A plug that does not have ferrules fitted (medical or non-medical). If in doubt open a shop bought kettle, toaster, or mains extension. If you find one without ferrules you have been buying grey imports!

For Medical Equipment the PLUG MUST be moulded and the whole cable replaced
