Thats me signed up! I think I pay enough tax on everything. taxed from my wage, taxed buying food, drinks, heating my home, watching TV etc. taxed to travel to work/holiday (both fuel and road).
I wonder when we start getting taxed on breathing air?? hhhhmmmmmmm.
New beginning. New location. New adventure. Old grumpy me!

As a sales manager for Nihon Kohden and travelling 30k miles per year I have signed it. Will they then start taxing ambulances taking you to hospital and then if you survive MRSA do you get the cost of the journey billed to you on leaving hospital. He he he.
Keep signing folks!!!!!!!!

Hi Folks, I've signed, but why on earth don't they just scrap the road tax and put up the price of fuel to compensate. I believe that it would be a far more ecconomical way to procede - no massive spend on technology etc. and catch all the tax dodgers as well. This would surely free up enough burocracy in the DVLA to allow the tax man to collect his share. Pete

Your right and those who use the roads more pay more. How about also moving all the trucks off the road on to rail which then frees up the congestion and does not produce as much damage to the surface making the roads cheaper to run. Also without the road tax and all that paperwork we can close down part of DVLA saving again.

Hang on Guys, don't you think we already pay enough tax for using our cars with Road Fund Licence and Fuel Tax (the highest in Europe)? Let's get real, the reason the government is thinking of introducing a road tax is to increase their income as they are facing a major shortfall from 2009 onwards. The motorist is an easy target for raising revenue and the bulls**t about reducing congestion doesn't ring true as there is no real alternative in place, such as cheap, reliable public transport. In addition, the cost of transportation for food and other goods will be passed onto the consumer (another form of stealth tax)!!!! With regard to moving trucks on to rail, it ain't gonna happen because the rail system cannot cope with anymore freight, the cost is exorbitant and the infrastructure does not allow full distribution. That's my rant over for now!!!!!

And who wants all their movements tracked by satellite technology measuring location, speed, time, starting point, stopping points on the way, end points with all the data available to our beloved government. Truly an orwellian nightmare. Combine that with street level CCTV, Oystercard tracking, credit/debit card spending and the NHS medical record computers and why bother having any civil liberty dreams. They'll all be lost. Last one out shut the door, please.

We get taxed on what we earn, what we spend and on any savings we have, so why are you suprised that the government want to tax you for getting to work?

Direct democracy in action! But does anyone really think that Big Brother will pay any attention? Meanwhile, anything that relies on satellite technology is a bit of a bummer, anyway. What makes people think that those things will always be available, and on-line, I wonder?

its citizen bliar that believes. The rest of us know better.
If they were serious on cutting emissions they'd remove the car licence fee, put up the petrol taxes and let the market pressure manufacturers to develop more economical cars or ones that use a different/sustainable fuel.
it its not for tax gathering or for the environment it must be for control element.
