May I seek experts here to advise if it is good to keep an old RF cage for an upgraded MRI ?
We are upgrading our old machine but keeping the old magnet. We would like to keep downtime and cost minimal. What do we need to consider/assess if the old RF cage can be extend for use?

As long as the RF cage (Faraday cage) has retained its integrity (not physically breached, or damaged), then I would expect it to be OK. It's not as though it gets worn out, is it?

And the fact that you're using the same magnet suggests that the field will be as before (that is, not greater).

It might be worth making sure that earthing arrangements are still in good shape, though.

No doubt there are specialists (physicists) about with fancy test equipment who would be glad to certify conditions for you!
