I have had a number of conversations regarding the increased costs surrounding the supply of this now registered drug.
W eek hat is clear through the smog is that the suggested ammended cost of it, is off this planet.
I would like to make contact for a discussion on where do we go from here

cheers

We have had discussions with INOtheraputics. I have pasted the body of the last comments to the consultant into this mail for your info.

I have spoken to Peter Rothery UK manager for INOThrapeutics.
He said that they have created a problem with the release of the USA business plan and are now aware that it will not work in this country. There is a new plan before the board this week and if it is accepted it will be publicised next week and he will email us to keep us up to date.
He assures me that they are not planning to force change on to places that are already using NO and they cannot afford to price the treatment so it is prohibitive.
I have told him we need to have costing in writing before the change over so it can be built into the financial plan .

This was a few weeks ago I will email the guy and see if any further developments have occurred. There must be lots of departments in the same position. Maybe we should all communicate and present a united front, but history indicates this is unlikely!

Peter Rothay has not replied to my question about further developments, which was sent on 10/05/02.

Many departments are looking into this, some are toying with the idea of continuing on with the unlicensed products a contact for more information on this would be;

Has anyone got any further information they would care to share?

Our ICU trialed this therapy about 18 months to 2 years ago. There were major safety issues around the storage of cylinders on the unit as well as problems with the equipment and the actual supply of the cylinders.
As far as I know, they abandoned it - and now just open the windows to let the vehicle fumes drift in from the A6 !
wink

Today is the day you worried about yesterday - and all is well !

Roy, last year I could have taken your advice as the Unit I used to work in overlooked the M602.
I look over green feilds and frolicking lambs now so the need for extra NO is higher or so the consultant tells me.

Frolicking Lambs ! ! eek

I suppose it could be worse - like large gaseous cows - then you would have a problem with methane !

NO does seem to be a useful substance with some patients and having spoken to Tim in Wolverhampton this morning, I'm inclined to believe that the safety issues raised in our ICU were a little unfounded. As far as I can remember, the equipment needed to deliver and control the gas was very expensive, but presumably there is more than one company able to supply it in the UK ? There are obviously a number of sources of the gas, so I assume that these other companies also supply the kit ?

Anybody got any names and telephone numbers ? confused

Roy,
How did you know about my methane problem?
Email me direct and I will pass on names and telephone numbers if Tim has not already given them to you. Many unresolved issues about drug licensing and adult treatment are still up in the air but neonatal use is becoming more frequent.
