I voted procurement as a growth area for the future.

I find it surprising that it got such a low score on the SURVEY

If we develope better relationships with finance and supplies, surely we can have more impact on the trust.
cool

Couldn't agree more with you John. From purely a self-preservation point of view, establishing working relationships with our Finance and Supplies colleagues will only enhance our respectability. It certainly has raised my department's profile in a positive way within the corridors of power in my employing Trust.

I spoke to our Supplies and procurement manager who was very pleased to hear that there was a dept in the trust who managed medical equipment. Since that time we have set up an ebme/supplies working group which has membership from all directorates. We get involved with all aspects of purchase. This includes tenders, and evaluating equipment for clinical use with the user. smile

It's not naivety Mercury Man: it's about adding value (to use a current expression) to your portfolio of key skills; or making yourself useful in other ways to the organisation that employs you. Common sense really.

PS: wouldn't dream of stepping on any spider, mate. I save them all up to give to our cat who just loves chasing them across the carpet!

I foresee a time when warranties will be for the life of the equipment and all internal electronic functions will be controlled by one multi-layer surface mount board. Repair will comprise of:
  • Change the case
  • change the board
  • change the equipment

We do need to think about spreading our wings.
Procurement and training are obvious areas of interest, and there may be others.
