If, when tendering for replacements, the company has to state if the technical training is included f.o.c. or is chargable, then the purchaser can work out what is the best deal.

If the said vent supplier was to include 3 places on a course at £1500 per place, then maybe the extra £4500 wouldn't make their tender quite so attractive alongside their competitors quotes with service included f.o.c.

Tie them down, get it in writing as a supplement to the "vague" PPQ.

Clare is spot on, there is a big drive to save £2.5 billion.

It might work with "old" manuals, though. Just think how handy that would be if you were a travelling tech? But who would be up to scanning in all those pages?

In my experiences of setting up service ventures overseas, "getting hold of the manuals" has always been a big stumbling block. I know of guys in the Philippines, for instance, who would be very interested in obtaining technical information. How could it be done, I wonder? Which format (PDF?), and then as an email attachment, or what?

Let's keep this one going guys. This is a real need!

How about a library of user manuals?
controls assurance states the requirement for the latest/revised editions of instructions to be available to users.

Just as I thought from my previous mail.It appears that the manufactures and/or their vendors are reluctant to post a copy of their manuals online. Since John created a link (well done) but not one copy has been forthcoming. I never expected many biomeds would upload, due to various reasons, but where are the manufacturers input? I'm sure if I stated that we were interested in buying their equipment my email would be jammed. Any thoughts from the manufacturers?

I did look at publishing some links, but the level of detail required in the form, would make it a laborious task. Requiring;

Also there is no guarantee that the company will not change the web site next week, rendering all the links useless.

I have uploaded the service manuals for the full range of Metron Products today Tuesday 17 November 2004. It also includes Metron products; however it was the only way to upload the service manuals. We need to get other company’s to participate in this and to build up the site so everyone can benefit.

Many thanks Ian. These manuals will certainly be benificial to us here, and hopefully to the other members of EBME also. Lets hope other manufacturers will take note of this and follow suit.
