Morning all.
Does anybody feel a bit dodgy (headache, lethargy) after doing the Inovent Nitric Oxide monthly calibrations or is it just me?

Tony

We seem to suffer from the same problems do you use a 'scrubber' during the checks?
Whilst on the subject who carries out pre-use checks on you units before the gas is attached to the ventilator circuit?

Here, the staff performs the pre use check before patient use and they also run through the same procedure every Sunday. I know that it an expensive way to do things but the Inovent is used that infrequently here that it is the only way that the staff can gain confidence.

Medical Physics then perform the monthly check.

As an aside. I did involve Inotherapeutics when the staff were complaining of headaches. Their solution was to give additional training sessions to the staff on performing the pre use checks
.

Hi
We at New Cross do all the monthlys, pre use checks, bottle changes and administer the Inomax to the patient (connect it into the vent circuit and set the dose) whether it be in work or as a call out. We have taken this stance because of the infrequency of use and therfore a familiarity issue with the nurses.
We do not currently use any sort of scavenging filter, as we have been led to believe there is no need for it.

Looks like someone's been at the Nitric Oxide ! Or is it just a 'thread' of confusion ?

Today is the day you worried about yesterday - and all is well !
