The MS26 and MS16 have never been a problem for us techies, but we're dealing with nurses, patients and carers here.
The pumps may be different colours and labelled differently, but "if it looks the same it must work the same". There have been numerous reports of incorrect dosing being given when the two pumps are used in the same hospital due to the MS16 being mistaken for the MS26 and vice versa.
The lock box solves the problem with the boost button but does not solve any problems with regard to rate setting or appropriate alarms.
With up to date pumps such as the McKinley T34, you can lock the settings so that only one type of syringe, one dose rate etc. can be used and all the nurse has to do is start it.
