Hello.
I apologise for the very 'tardy' reply to some questions posted in this thread. In mitigation though, I hav'nt been monitoring it because I assumed all relevant queries would be via telephone/mail. Any excuses made - some answers to questions.

Drew enquired about 'informal' call out system.

In short, we do not have technicians formally rostered/paid. In the event that emergency help is required, the request is routed via the EBME manager/deputy, who will in turn contact relevant personnel. Of course it runs the risk that there will be a day when the right people cannot be obtained, but the approach has been risk assessed, and the systems in place mitigate both likelihood and potential severiy of any event. It has a number of obvious advantages - among them financial cost to the Trust

On average we only respond to about 8 call outs/year. THe system has worked successfully for the last 15 years. I am happy to talk in more detail if you want to fill in the gaps. Give me a call.

Andy F. Commented on Jobs advertised as 'AfC pending'

I would agree with you that the situation is far from ideal though from our perspective it was just an unfortunate coincidence of timing.

For info, our department has now come out of the other side of AfC assimilation with a combination of Band 5 and Band 6 for its MTO 3's. The current postholder of one of the jobs advertised was graded at band 6. Assuming the successful applicant could demonstrate the necessary level of knowledge, skills and experience required, then band 6 would apply.

Suganthi - Should you send a cv/resume?

I have not been involved in the process of shortlisting for the post, and the closing date has long passed. However, if you made an application, you will hear from us one way or the other.
If you have not sent a CV or submitted an application this time round, you may be interested to know that the NHS now advertises its vacancies on line - via a system called e-rec (I don't have the address to hand), and you are able to submit on line applications for such vacancies.

Devendra - ? not getting replies to applications for NHS posts

I think RoJo' reply is a very good summation of the current position. You may also want to take a look at the on line job advertisments and application submissions system. This will at least ensure you get a reply!

Apologies again for the delay in replying - I'll monitor all threads in future.
