I have received a letter from Amicus informing of progress for maintenance craftsmen with regard afc banding.
At one hospital (I believe an early implementer site)the trust has agreed to train the craftsmen and grade then as mechanical technicians which puts then onto band 4.
This band 4 gives then a slight pay rise and on top of that, the increase of the on-call pay rates give then another slight rise. What I find interesting is that on top of these small increases they have also been awarded a RRP of approx £2700 as well. This has resulted in a pay increase of over £3000.
I thought the RRP was to up your pay level if your new grading is below your current pay, ie a form of pay protection but this is obviously not the case.
This new pay scale according to the union letter has been accepted and implemented.
