Have any of you come across an error code 159 or error code 161 on this Valley lab machine. It seems to put this error out the moment the settings are set beyond 10 in both cut and coag mode. The error codes are not mentioned in the service manual.159 code comes on cutting mode and 161 comes on in coag mode.

Thanks
Manoj

Error 161 is a component failure, usually the large MOSFET in the RF output circuit (mounted to the right-hand heat sink)OR the cut/coag relay has overheated and melted. Once the error has gone check the waveform at TP19 as sometimes the caps and inductors in this circuit need replacing after this fault.

Valleylab charge aroung £130 for the MOSFET, so it may be worth looking for a local supplier.

Never seen Error 159, but it could be related to this fault.

Hope this helps!

Thanks StuC, I did replace the large MOSFET from another unit which was behaving erratically and the the cut/coag relay actually melted from the overheat. So had to replace both the MOSFET and the relay . The MOSFET costs A$150.00.from Tyco Australia.

Cheers
Manoj
