I'm interested in doing a project, being a clinical engineer in an EBME department. I have a great understanding on how pretty much all devices work including the theory of operation. However I'm not sure what to do it in as I don't know what would be useful (benefit the EBME department or the hospital) and appropriate. By appropriate I mean involve minimum/little patient and clinical staff participation and also not cost the department much financially. I do have a particular interest in mechanical devices but would be interested also in something which involves each aspects of mechatronics. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi
Workload would remain the same. This project is something I would do in my own time, its more of a hobby really than being part of my work, but I work at my local hospital and therefore am keen on something like this in my spare time.
