Tony,
I would complain about your rep and his attitude. As has been said in other threads "What do we pay our union dues for?" Well, support and advice when we need it is one thing.
People keep on emphasising here you have the right to work as a partnership to get your AfC grading sorted out and those in a union have a lot of professional help to help them.
I would advise getting your job description and going through it thoroughly to make sure it is scoring as many points as possible. To score it properly you need the support of someone in the know - your union rep. If they cannot or will not help go to your national officer. I have found them very hepfull in the past. And keep going higher till you get someone to help you.
And complain about the blokes attitude as well, I would not say techs have been well off up to now, and even if we had that is no reason to not help you.
Best of luck.
Robert
