Distance Learning Diploma in Medical Equipment Technologies
"This qualification meets a real need for a structured route to develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge, and I have already enrolled two of my trainees on to this course.”
EBME Manager, West Midlands, September 2014
This qualification is accredited by the Open College Network and is listed on the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF), harmonising with the Modernising of Scientific Careers framework which seeks to address the training and education needs of the whole healthcare workforce of the NHS.
Learning takes place predominantly in the workplace, mainly through the completion of workbooks, web-based activities and tests and via direct practice with supervision by the workplace mentor. Course materials, study support and resources are available online. This distance learning programme thus provides the flexibility for candidates who work full-time to study whilst minimising disruption to their setting/employer. Modules are taught sequentially rather than concurrently, obviating the need for students to complete and submit multiple assessments at any one time.
Students will come together at Avensys’ dedicated Training Academy in the West Midlands for one weekend of teaching/practical sessions and assessments per module, led by highly skilled experts in medical engineering and training. This facility is a fully-equipped training environment designed to simulate a hospital, dental, or other clinical situation. The price of the course also includes high quality overnight accommodation for the weekend sessions, should it be required, at the 4 star Stourport Manor Hotel.
Candidates have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of IHEEM Membership for the duration of the course, and advice will be given by professional IHEEM staff on engineering registration.
The Diploma course lasts 18 months and the full cost is £7,995.00. Flexible payment options are available – candidates may pay for Levels 4 and 5 separately at £3997.50 each or per module £1000 All prices are exclusive of VAT.
The Diploma launch date is the 12th January 2015, cohorts will then be at 6 month intervals. On completion of the course, top up will be available onto a BSc in Medical Equipment Technologies; this will be launched in October 2016 with a partner university.
