HILDITCH GROUP LTD CELEBRATES 20TH BIRTHDAY
Equipment disposal experts, The Hilditch Group, have just celebrated their 20th Birthday.
Founded by husband and wife team, Mike & Nicky Hilditch, to provide an outlet for commercial and industrial equipment, MD Mike very soon noticed a market opportunity in the medical sector.
?Twenty years ago the medical market was very underdeveloped; in fact most hospitals threw their redundant equipment away. We were first asked to clear the kitchens of local hospitals but we noticed that whilst the hospital was happy to sell their catering equipment, they were filling skips with good hospital beds and stainless steel surgical trolleys!?
Initially the Hilditch Group was called in to clear large psychiatric hospitals as, at that time, the move was away from large institutions to care in the community. These old psychiatric hospitals dated from the Victorian era and often covered over 50 acres. They were, in effect, self sufficient towns; some even had their own railway station for visiting relatives! The sales included everything including tractors, machinery, kitchens, antiques, medical equipment, and even stain glass windows and church organs.
The Hilditch Group has since sold the contents of most of the hospital PFI rebuilds. But in fact its main business, as many of you know, is collecting and selling equipment on behalf of most of the acute hospitals in the UK, as well as most of the private health groups.
Of course, the enormous success the company has achieved is bound to attract some competition; however Managing Director, Mike Hilditch, is upbeat about the future. "The competition is very weak, they lack our expertise, but we are not complacent and have a number of new services that we will be rolling out over the next year which will strengthen our market position". Leading these initiatives will be Marketing Manager, Barney Greig, who joins the Hilditch Group having previously worked for the Consortium for Purchasing specializing in marketing new products.
"We are feeling very upbeat for the future with plans for expanding our premises, including buying a new warehouse, and we would like to thank all our loyal NHS customers for their help in establishing this company as the leading re-sellers of surplus hospital equipment".
