2nd February 2010 - Welch Allyn has donated stethoscopes, diagnostic sets and blood pressure gauges/cuffs to help the relief effort in Haiti.
Through the international aid charity 'Heart to Heart', 'Ready Relief Boxes' have been packaged together to help health professionals on the ground treat those in the devastated area.
"In our efforts to respond to the medical needs of earthquake survivors in Haiti, it is imperative to have quality diagnostic instruments in the hands of healthcare providers, so they can quickly assess and treat patients affected by this crisis," said Andre T. Butler, Heart to Heart's chief advancement officer. "Welch Allyn helps us overcome this logistical challenge, so we can help the people of Haiti take effective steps toward recovery."
Welch Allyn has set up a Haiti relief donation page on its public website for visitors who wish to donate directly and has pledged to match all employee donations to the Haiti relief effort.
In 2009 alone, Welch Allyn donated over $500,000 worth of medical devices to Heart to Heart, so they could be shipped on a moment?s notice wherever and whenever disaster strikes. Heart to Heart International works directly with humanitarian partners and other entities to ensure that the medical instruments are distributed to healthcare providers and medical facilities in the affected regions.
