Implementation guidance for ISO 9001:2015
ISO 9001:2008 is still valid and EBME services will still benefit from implementing and certifying against it.
Certification to ISO 9001: 2008 will continue be allowed for a period of time following the publication of the new version of the standard (in Sept 2015). All organizations currently certified to ISO 9001:2008 will need to transition to the new requirements by September 2018.
ISO 9001:2015 revision
Business has changed radically since the last major revision in the year 2000; technology has changed how we work, geographical boundaries are almost insignificant in today’s global economy, supply chains are increasingly complex and the information available has multiplied exponentially. To ensure that ISO 9001 continues to serve the business community and maintain its relevance in today’s market place, the standard is being revised to address the change in the business world. BSI has obtained global accreditation from ANAB to certify organizations to the new Quality Management standard ISO 9001:2015. The BSI has announced that it is the first to receive official global accreditation status from the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to certify organizations to the new Quality Management Standard, ISO 9001:2015. The decision was made utilizing ISO/FDIS 9001:2015 and accredited certificates to ISO 9001:2015.

The new ISO 9001 structure
The new high level structure (HLS) brings a common framework to all management system standards. This helps to keep consistency, alignment of different management system standards, and offers matching sub-clauses against the top-level structure, applying common language across all standards.

- Emphasis on objectives measurement and change

- Fewer prescriptive requirements

FOR ISO 9001:2008
ISO 9001:2008 was developed in order to introduce clarifications to the existing requirements of ISO 9001:2000 and to improve compatibility with ISO 14001:2004. ISO 9001:2008.
ISO 9001:2008 is still valid until September 2018. You should prepare to change your Quality Management system to reflect the changes from 9001:2008 to 9001:2015 between now and 2018.
Changes are expected to have a limited impact on users, some arrangements regarding implementation needs.
- Get acquainted with the new edition of the standard.
- Communicate to both internal and external parties the changes required to transition to ISO 9001:2015.
- Determine the impact of the new version on your current system and plan any necessary remedial actions.
- Use the Plan-Do-Check-Act methodology to manage the implementation of your remedial actions, but keep in mind the timeframe provided in.
